Addiction Help

Coming down off the high of addiction is difficult. Walking away from it is harder. A good place to start is with yourself.

Addictions – The Key to Recovery

What’s your poison? Or, put another way, how do you self-medicate for the disappointments and disasters of daily life? Addictions are the toxic remedy of choice for far more people than you could possibly imagine. They are one of life’s guilty secrets and technology and affluence make them easily available to all.

Lonely? Bored with life? In a bad relationship? Work getting on top of you? It’s easy to log in to thrilling, risk-taking promises of riches beyond your wildest dreams, buy enough cheap booze or recreational drugs to intoxicate a whale 24-7, immerse yourself in a fantasy world where you are always the good guy, shop until you drop or until the elastic-plastic is maxed out.

Evidence

Hypnosis shows 77 per cent success rate for drug addiction

Treatment has been used with 18 clients over the last 7 years and has shown a 77 percent success rate for at least a 1-year follow-up. 15 were being seen for alcoholism or alcohol abuse, 2 clients were being seen for cocaine addiction, and 1 client had a marijuana addiction

Eventually, reality always kicks in and it’s hard to remember you ever had a choice. Coming down off the high of addiction is difficult. Walking away from it is harder. A good place to start is with yourself. That difficult conversation becomes much easier with empowering self hypnosis strategies. Use them to help you make the right choices, gain the strength to seek help and believe you can change.

Compulsive Gambling

The accessibility of online gambling has created many more addicts than we can possibly know. Available 24/7, it is often a secretive, nocturnal addiction which may only be discovered when the bailiffs knock. Destructive and often anti-social, compulsive gambling is a loser’s game which exerts a powerful influence over the sufferer. With hypnotherapy, a gambler can find other ways to ‘win’ and work on removing that desperate urge to place another bet.

Drink Problems

‘Wine o’clock’ is a familiar time of day in many households. It’s an antidote to daily trials and self medication for life’s tribulations. Harmless enough, you might think, but daily doses of toxic amounts of alcohol are being consumed behind closed doors. The staggering drunken youths falling out of the pub on a Friday night generally can’t afford to drink as much as the school run mums necking ‘bogof’ bottles of discount wine by the caseloads. There are many functioning alcoholics glugging dangerous quantities of booze in this way who know they are causing untold harm to their health and shortening their life expectancy. It is these drinkers who can really benefit from interrupting the habit so that alcohol is no longer a dominant force in their life.

Drug/Substance Abuse

Problems with both prescription and recreational drugs are common. Weed is much stronger than it ever used to be and skunk can trigger psychotic disorders and damage long term mental health. ‘Legal highs’ are the cool killers which excite media interest when another bright young thing drops dead on the dance floor. Casual drug use is a rite of passage which many emerge from unscathed when they grow up. For others, they are a route to oblivion and self destruction. Prescription drugs killed Michael Jackson and over-the-counter pain-killers contributed to the premature death of gifted funny man Mel Smith. Drug induced anxiety is another side effect of drug use cause high levels of anxiety and sometime paranoia. Drug abuse is easy to indulge in and hard to give up when it’s part of your lifestyle or you’ve become dependent on the effects. Getting back self-control is the key to changing habits and attitudes. Hypnotherapy is the key to getting back self-control.
